What a super cool, fun book!! I think this book was created just for me. It was a gift for my heart (literally and figuratively) in so many ways!!! There was so much stuff in it that I love: scrapbooking, 1920 theme, nostalgia, honesty, and a fun escape to read. This is a wonderfully written novel but not in the traditional sense. It's a 233-page grown-up picture book!! Frankie Pratt is the heroine and this book is her scrapbook where she chronicles her life from high school graduation through college and beyond (including Paris, an affair with an older man, and her dream of becoming a writer). It was very creatively inspiring.
It reminded me of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. Another super cool read. Old photographs were gathered and collected and then a story is created around them. SUPER STINKING COOL STUFF!!!!! Super super fun! (Did I use the word 'super' enough?) A very interesting story birthed from truly mesmerizing - and sometimes down right bizarre - vintage black and white photographs.
