Bulletin Board ideas

This page shows examples of bulletin boards you can use as inspiration for your own classroom or studies.

Fahrenheit 451

Picture
The border of this board is made of actual burned pages of a book. (Don't freak: the book was already water logged and taken out of circulation.) The big empty space on the left is where the Mechanical Hound later went. See below.
Picture
I had one of my students (who was also studying art) draw the Mechanical Hound. Amazingly creepy!
Picture
Another art student drew this face for me and I scattered quotes from the book all around it. I found the original picture by searching images of 'censorship' on the internet.
Picture
I printed out a list of 'once banned' books and asked the kids if they had read any of them. Some of them were very surprised at the titles on the list. Curious?

The Odyssey

Picture
Normally I have big waves crashing around the main 3-D ship. I guess I took this pic before I finished.
Picture
Red yarn maps out the major stops and events on Odysseus' journey. You know it took 20 years, right? That's a lot of yarn!
Picture
The long white piece of paper has the background story of why the Trojan War started in the first place. (HINT: it's always about a woman!)

Greek Gods Family Tree
"Consorts and Offspring"

Picture
Kind of hard to see but there are red lines and white lines depicting offspring and 'parents'.
Picture
I had a student draw the palace and the lines on Mount Olympus.
Picture
Just a cool random tunnel looking thing. I was trying to add to the ethereal surreal.. mystic feel. (Yeah, I know. I'm pushing it.)
Picture
This is just for some inspiration. If you need "who's who" details, send me an email.

Percy Jackson (The Lightning Thief)

Picture
Within the black storm clouds are all the gods that Percy has to battle.
Picture
The "film strip" actually shows scenes from the book, not the movie.
Picture
I'm not sure how well it shows but these images are actually kind of 3-D. It was fun to create. Email me for the details.

Row row row your boat, down the River Styx...
